“Secure connection failed” errors

When the site and Hominis can’t agree on a secure way to talk, and why there’s no button to skip it.

This error means Hominis and the website could not set up an encrypted connection at all, usually because the server is misconfigured or uses outdated security. Unlike a certificate warning, there is no way to continue: the page never arrived.

What you can do

  • Reload the tile. Temporary server problems often clear up on their own.
  • If many secure sites fail, check whether antivirus or security software is scanning encrypted connections, and update or turn off that feature.
  • Check your Mac’s date and time.
  • If only one site fails, the problem is most likely on its side. Its owner can check the server’s security settings.
